Dapoli Karde beach – Konkan Trip from Pune 2016

Pune to Dapoli Karde beach ( Konkan) – 2 Days

This time we had plan to go to location where we can enjoy with family and where there is less crowd. One of my friend suggested Karde beach near Dapoli. After taking review from multiple sources, we finalized to go to Dapoli in our own Car.

Distance from Pune to Karde beach:

The distance between Pune to Karde beach is around 200 KM.

Pune to Dapoli Route:

There are 2 options to reach karde beach.

  1. Pune to Dapoli route Tamini Ghat

The distance from Pune to Karde beach is around 220 KM. We started from Katraj and followed below route:

Katraj -> Chandni chowk -> Pirangut – >Paud -> Mulshi-> Tamini ghat -> After crossing tamini ghat you will see industrial area(vele bhagad MIDC) in left -> Take left (there is highway through that MIDC) -> Nizampur -> Mangoan.

From Mangoan travel towards Mahad for 16-17 KM at Tol Fata you need to take Right turn for Dapoli. This road is via Ambet.

Mangoan -> Veer -> Tol Phata -> Take right and travel straight -> Ambet -> Mandangad -> by Khed road after 22 km take right -> Dapoli -> From Dapoli -> you will see sign boards for karde beach. It’s via murud.

Katraj -> Tamini ghat (61 KM) -> Mangoan (54 KM) -> Tol Fata (17 KM) -> Mandangad (30 KM) -> toward khed (22 Km) -> Dapoli (26 KM) -> Karde beach (12 KM)

We found that this route is much better than Varandha ghat road which is via Bhor.

  1. Dapoli to Pune via Varandha Ghat

The distance from Pune to Karde beach is around 200 KM.

Karde beach -> Dapoli (12 KM)-> Near Kumbarwadi (take left) (26 KM) > After 11-12 km via Visapur take right -> Mahad (32 KM) -> Bhor (74 KM) -> Kapur Hol high way (22 KM) -> Katraj (30 KM)

We had a plan to visit Shivthargal which is in Varandha ghat so decided to return via this route. The road is not that good due to which it took lot of time to reach Pune. Another disadvantage is toll at Khed shivapur.

Trip:

We started from Pune around 5.45 AM. We followed route 1 and reached Mangoan around 8: 30 AM where we took halt for breakfast. The rates for Poha and Upma (40/-) are high w.r.t quality & quantity they provide. For non-veg you don’t need to worryJ. As breakfast was not ready it took more than 1 hour to re-start our journey. From Mangoan we continued our journey towards Mahad looking for right turn for Mandangad. However we missed that turn and went straight for about 5-6 KM and then had to take U turn.

We reached Mandangad via Ambet. From there we took khed road and reached dapoli around 12 PM.  From Dapoli, karde beach is hardly around 12-13 KM. We reached karde beach around 12:30 PM. We already had done booking at Malhar hotel () so immediately got rooms. Hotel was facing to sea shore. There are many other options available for room. We ate some chiwda and fruits and straight way went to beach as nobody was in mood to waste time in having lunch. We enjoyed at beach for couple of hours.

After that came back and had nice shower. In the evening we got ready and started looking for snacks option. For vegetarian there are very limited options like Poha, Upma and Misal Pav. The quantity of Poha & Upma is very less. For dinner you need to give order in advance.

After that we went to beach and played some games there. After sunset we started playing in front of hotel were we ordered for lunch. The food was ok for veg and good for Non- veg.

Next day we got up early and went to beach around 6: 45 am. Had photo session there. Then we got ready around 9.45 AM and had breakfast.  After that had a walk to seashore.

We started our return journey around 11:45 AM. While going we wanted to visit Ganapati temple but due to no information about location had to skip it. We followed route 2 mentioned above and reached Mahad around 2 PM. Had lunch there. Started back around 3.15 PM and crossed Varandha ghat around 5:30 PM. Finally reached katraj around 8 PM.

Tips/Recommendations:

  • Route Tamini ghat road is much better than Verandah ghat if you are going from Pune.
  • For Breakfast/Meals check for nearby by options first before giving order. The hotel were we stay charges us more.
  • Carry things like ball, bat, badminton rackets, football, volleyball with you.
  • Carry water bottles if it’s possible for you.
  • Check-in time for most hotels is 12 PM and checkout time is 10 AM. Talk with them to avoid penalty.
